I started in the title business in 1973 as a property inspector in suburban Chicago. I purchased this company in 2002. In between I’ve done or supervised just about every job in this business from messenger to Regional Executive in charge of nine states and 1000 employees. I truly am thankful for the opportunity to build a title company that reflects my own values and expectations for service and commitment to clients that were honed over 30 years of industry experience. I’m an avid sports fan. The best sports teams put their players in the best position to be successful. That’s how I view my job. I’ve organized our company so that each of us has the most opportunity to immediately help our client. Our people respond to and grow with responsibility. Our people really do care about meeting our client’s needs. They are among the best of many thousands with whom I’ve worked.

I am inspired each day by the work I do. My position at John Bethell Title allows me the opportunity to assist people in our community achieve a dream! The dream may be a young family purchasing their first home, a couple selling their family home in order to move forward into retirement or an entrepreneur purchasing an investment for their future. It is rewarding to be a part of such life changing events!! I began my career in the real estate industry in 2002 as a mortgage loan originator and processor. I joined John Bethell Title Company, Inc. in May 2006 as a Closing Processor becoming a Closing Officer later in 2006, Vice President of Settlement Services in 2009 and Executive Vice President in 2012. My knowledge of both title examining and closing procedures is a valuable asset to our clients. I work closely with our title department and closing department on a daily basis. This helps me ensure a premier customer experience by anticipating and addressing challenges before they affect the closing.
Manager, Client Services
I started my career in the title business in 1981. I went to high school for the first half of each day and would work for Martha Sims at Bloomington Abstract Company in the afternoon. Starting with microfilming courthouse records and moving on to learn many different aspects of the business. In 2003, Bloomington Abstract Company was purchased by Meridian Title Corporation. I became an Account Manager for Meridian Title working with realtors and lenders to meet their customers’ needs. In June of 2011, John Bethell Title Company purchased the Bloomington office of Meridian Title. I assumed my present position at John Bethell Title as Manager of Client Services. As I start my 32nd year in the business I look forward to working with all of our current clients and the new relationships we continue to build.
Title Services Manager/Commercial Title Underwriter
I have worked at John Bethell Title since 2010 as a full time employee. I am the Title Services Manager and our commercial underwriter. I handle orders on commercial properties from the title search through the preparation of the commitment. I do most of my work in Monroe County, but I’ve also searched and examined commercial properties in Owen, Greene, Lawrence and Brown counties. In addition to my commercial duties, I also use our GIS based digital mapping software to make maps that help sort out problems involving legal descriptions and ensure that your property is not subject to any needless exceptions.
Abstractor / Title Services Coordinator
I have been abstracting since 1993 and really enjoy the research associated with the title searching. Working through the courthouse records fulfills a need for history, albeit on a micro level. I have worked for John Bethell since he acquired to company and my role has expanded to title examination and commitment preparation. Gaining a more complete understanding of the title department, especially, title examination, has been a wonderful learning experience and different challenge than abstracting poses, making each day an exciting opportunity to serve our clients.
I began in the title business in the early 1980’s. When I started, title commitments were typed on a typewriter, we prepared abstracts, delivered documents in person, and closings were conducted with checks or real money. So many things have changed. There are more rules and regulations every year. I keep on top of things so that I can answer all our client’s questions. I enjoy working hard to meet and exceed their expectations. I’ve been married thirty-seven years; have two daughters, two sons-in-law and three grandsons, for which I am very thankful. I help my husband with our farm and look forward to playing cards the great senior citizens from my area.
Client Service Coordinator
I began in the title insurance business in June of 1993 with Bloomington Abstract Company, continuing with Meridian Title in 2003. I joined John Bethell Title Company in December 2011. I have experience in searching, examining, issuing commitments and final policies. As a part of the client services team, it gives me the opportunity to work closely with our customers. With 20 years of experience, I feel I can meet and/or exceed the needs and expectations of our customers. I am a 1992 graduate of Indiana University and was a Bloomington resident until 2004. I currently reside in Greenwood with my husband of 12 years. I love being back in Bloomington and working for such an awesome company.
I am from Bloomington and graduated from Bloomington South High School. I began working at the IU Credit Union in 1993 as a Teller and moved to the Mortgage Loan Dept. in 1995 as a Mortgage Processor and then to a Mortgage Closer in 1997. Since I began my career in the Lending industry I feel I have a strong understanding of closings from both the Lending and Title sides. I believe this to be a valuable asset when explaining closing documents at the closing table. I joined John Bethell Title Company in June 2011 after he acquired the Bloomington Office of Meridian Title which I began working for in September 2005 as a Closing Officer. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I have a six year old nephew that I love spending time with. I also have a Doberman Pincsher named Sage and am an avid animal lover.
I am an Indiana University alumnus who fell in love with Bloomington. It has been my community since 2001. I was thrilled to join John Bethell Title Company, Inc. in February 2011. Prior to joining John Bethell, I processed mortgage loans for a local bank. My experience, knowledge and eye for detail allow me to accurately and efficiently conduct closings and serve our clients. I am always looking for ways to improve and develop new skills to exceed customers’ expectations. I am truly grateful to be a mother and wife. I spend my time sharing music, nature, cooking and the wonder of life with my amazing family and our friends.
Director of Title Plant Services
I’m a native of New Castle, Indiana, and have lived in Bloomington since 1980. I started with the John Bethell Title Company, Inc. in November of 1989, primarily doing title searching in Monroe, Brown, Owen, and Morgan counties. I also abstracted recorded documents for an in-house property records data base. In the mid-1990s I planned and implemented a conversion from a card index to an electronic database. This property records data base has expanded greatly over the years, and now includes images of all documents recorded since mid-1999, including plat maps and surveys. It is the largest and most comprehensive in Monroe County. Although I am primarily occupied with administering this data base, I also administer the company computer network and assist with solving day-to-day IT issues.
Wendy came to us after fourteen years with the law firm of Foutty & Foutty in Indianapolis where she specialized in representing lenders in mortgage foreclosures. Wendy managed title claims and bankruptcy issues for the firm’s clients as well. Prior to joining Foutty, Wendy was a title attorney for Chicago Title Insurance Company and Royal Title Services. Wendy is a 1993 graduate of the University Of Akron School Of Law and has an undergraduate degree from Indiana University. In addition to her role as our title counsel, Wendy will also help us stay abreast of the ever increasing number of regulatory matters now facing our industry. Wendy’s knowledge and breadth of experience is exactly what we were hoping to find when we began to look for Dan Stewart’s successor.
April comes to JBT in 2015 with extensive prior experience in the medical administration field. Her role has changed as the new TRID process have given us an opportunity to create a more efficient process. April’s role as a Pre-Closing coordinator includes clearing requirements and tying up the closing process by sending out the closing packages as well as scheduling closings.
Willow joined JBT in 2015 in the Title department and moved to Pre-closing department as we reorganized our processes to better meet the TRID requirements. Willow is great with our customers and is April’s counterpart. She works on clearing requirements and tying up the closing process by sending out the closing packages as well as scheduling closings.
Real Estate Closer
Sarah came to JBT in 2015 from her years as the Service Center Manager for AAA Hoosier Motor Club. Sarah further strengthens our capability to fulfill our promise of providing an outstanding experience to you and your clients as a Real Estate Closer. Sarah brings a detailed nature to this role along with a sense of humor. In addition, Sarah is also a member of the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Indiana
Amy started at JBT in the summer of 2015 as our receptionist and has recently moved to the role of Closing Processor. This role was created to better meet the needs of our clients. Amy is a perfect fit as she works with lenders, relators, buyers and sellers to coordinate closings, prepare documents and problem solve.

Rebecca joined JBT in early 2016 and brings twelve years of experience as a closer and funder with Caliber Home Loans and their predecessor. Rebecca further strengthens our capability to fulfill our promise of providing an outstanding experience to you and your clients as a Real Estate Closer. Her eye for detail and customer service is next to none.
